An anniversary Symposium is held in Edinburgh supported by an exhibition at the University.
To the rescue
In response to Edinburgh City Council’s plan to sell Riddle’s Court the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) publishes an option appraisal recommending the repair of Riddle’s Court and use as a centre for learning and conservation. The option is taken up by the Council and SHBT is granted a 99-year lease.
CREATING THE PATRICK GEDDES CENTRE
SHBT move into riddle’s Court in 2011 and initiate plans for the Patrick Geddes Centre. An appeal to raise £5m is launched. Work begins on restoring the building in 2015. The Centre opens in the Summer of 2017, 430 years after John McMorran bought this small but significant part of Edinburgh.
